Dear Editor,
With the undertaking to send help to Jamaica, if the Government has not considered this already, the Government should tie the help to Jamaica with the current rice farmers’ financial jeopardy caused by the global rice surplus.
Pay the farmers a fair rate for paddy and negotiate a reduced milling cost for all rice sent to Jamaica.
Easy to see that, not only will the assistance to Jamaica be met, but the Government’s promised support for struggling rice farmers will also be delivered.
Dear Editor,
I am confused. Very. In a parliamentary system you have a ruling party/government. The next biggest party are the official opposition and they provide ‘shadow’ ministers. The third largest party is just that. So why is Sherod Duncan of APNU masquerading as the ‘Shadow Minister of Home Affairs’? Surely some mistake or did he miss the election?
Dear Editor,
The EU Elections Observation Mission report could not be clearer…a comprehensive Constitutional reform is overdue. According to the PPP/C General Secretary, in a short period, thousands of nationwide suggestions were collected and used to finalise the Party’s 2025 Manifesto. With that experience, would the Government now use the same connected and inclusive process to deliver the constitutional reforms, as promised in both 2020 and 2025 manifestos?
Dear Editor,
Your editorial, (Sun.9th Nov. 2025) undoubtedly revealed double standards by the Mayor & City Council (M&CC) re. Qatari Hotel Carifesta Ave. Mae’s School, Farnum Ground. If I was Mayor of Georgetown, and read your editorial, immediately I would have stopped the Mae’s construction, apologized to the residents of Subryanville, and resigned as Mayor (show dignity / integrity, avoid public degradation.)
