Dear Editor,
Weeks ago, America broke off contact with Venezuela amid speculations that a covert operation is underway to capture Nicolas Maduro who is accused of heading a major drug trafficking ring. After the recent bombing by a Venezuelan national with links to a drug trafficking gang that resulted in the loss of a young life of a Guyanese citizen at Mobil gas station, and this astute move by our key ally to break contact, why hasn’t our government recalled our Ambassador to Venezuela?
CRG has continually called for the government of Guyana to break diplomatic ties with the rogue regime of Venezuela that appears to be now sponsoring terror in our country. It is yet to be confirmed but given the move by our ally we should be following suit based on their actions. Under Maduro, Venezuela has become an enemy state of our nation. It is time for the government to close our embassy in Caracas and expel the Venezuelan ambassador and his entourage from our country.
