The Hampshire Solar Farm is indeed another step in the direction of a greener Guyana, and it deserves full praise and acknowledgement. However, something seems missing……. best use of the solar-farm area?
A simple Google search will show that with minimal design changes, the spaces below solar-farm panels (roof) can be used for several activities to the benefit of the communities.
Solar farms can also be constructed over spaces like outdoor markets. It is hoped that the Government has thought of doing this with its plans for markets across Guyana.
For example, I visualise the President’s promised roof over the Lusignan market providing a play and recreation space when the market is not in use.
Multi-use, multi-purpose structures are not novelties.

Am I missing something? President Trump is establishing a veritable armada offshore Venezuela. He is the twenty first century Sir Walter Raleigh on his way to his El Dorado-a change of regime in Venezuela.
The bombing/sinking of small ‘drug boats-.probably illegally offshore is a smoke screen from the main action. When will we seen proper analytic reporting in ‘Guyana’s most trusted newspaper’ on the likely action and intended/unintended effects. Trump’s armada may be not off our shores directly but any action he takes will affect us deeply,

The Single Window system that was created by the Central Housing and Planning Authority is a disaster.
I applied since July 23, 2025 for permission to enclose a simple two-bedroom apartment in Kitty. To date it’s still pending.
Although they are using IT Services the system is still very slow.
Just to enclose a simple bottom flat on an existing building the cost is $60,000 plus.
I therefore call on the relevant Authority to look into this matter.
Dear Editor,
Fisher folk to receive 150k grant as a form of support to the industry. This has been made known, but rest of citizens will know by year end the slew of benefits, including cash grant, to be rolled out.
With the fisherfolk set to receive this amount, could it be discerned that the expected cash grant to citizens would not be below that amount? Further, fisherfolk would also be entitled to the ‘national’ cash grant, whenever it is rolled out.
It is year end, so make the announcement.
