Dear Editor,
I write in reference to your front page news report, “Pouderoyen pump station work proceeding without requisite financial bonds – Auditor General’s report” (Nov 6). On the first sitting of the 13th Parliament, wastage of revenues has come to the fore. It smells fishy. Is someone being rewarded and for what? Isn’t this an act of corruption? Who is responsible? Will heads roll?
Who are the owners of the company, Spectre Inc. that has been awarded the near billion dollars contract? What does the Chairman of NDIA, Lionel Wordsworth and Minister Zulfikar Mustapha have to say about the lack of enforcement of the contract performance bond? And how about Junior Minister Pandit Vikash Ramkissoon – what does he have to say about the contract?
The Auditor General stated that maintenance costs at NDIA have doubled. Can Chairman Lionel Wordsworth provide an explanation? Have the equipment and staff doubled? This Pouderoyen contract, and Tepui (Critic), is another chronic abuse of money and of power by government. What does the VP and the President have to say about the waste of taxpayers’ money? What do the Ambassador of USA and BCE countries have to say about contractual practices in Guyana?
