Dear Editor,
I would like to raise the concern and anxiety of the majority of Old Age pensioners.
While it is almost December, there is not a squeak about the distribution of pension book and the much anticipated cash grant.
Regarding the cash grant, we the older folks who helped lay the foundations will not look out for employers’ gifts and Christmas parties and other goodies.
But we do await the appreciation of the government as was promised to all adult Guyanese.
I am sure that our wait and anticipation will not turn into disappointment and excuses.
It is not realistic that every adult can open a bank account in this country. There are those who can hardly muster money for food much less trying to save in a bank.
I believe that those who are saying that everyone must have a bank account have drifted away from Guyanese reality.
To the people dealing with human services, please notify the pensioners about their pension book.
