Dear Editor,
The standoff outside the Amerindian Hostel got personal, with one accusation levelled at an attempt to deflect from legal problems while another accusation involved the contractor who happens to be the husband of the sitting minister.
It is always like this. National matters are the platform to get nasty and personal.
It is not now complaints have surfaced about conditions at the Hostel. From reports accompanied by photographs the conditions and situation are quite shameful. Better must be done.
The noise from both sides with accusations and counter-accusations is counter productive. Both sides sought political mileage and the persons occupying the Hostel are caught in the middle.
Steps must be taken to improve conditions immediately. The accusations must not stand in the way of this. Millions spent on Main Street festivities but the Hostel is in a dire state. This just cannot be right.
