Dear Editor,
I did not find it particularly comforting, that the Minister with responsibility for the Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge, would offer remarks on the recent observations concerning perceived developments on the Bridge. I would have thought and much preferred a technical person or engineer would have made the remarks offering reassurance on the Bridge’s integrity, safety and worthiness.
It is posited that maybe, just maybe, the Bridge was put into operation too soon after its construction and an extended ‘settling’ period was not allowed, in order to detect any defects or unsoundness.
It is further posited, the DHB should not be dismantled just yet.
The massive showpiece and hallmark of development must not in any way be compromised. All steps should be taken to ensure this.
