Dear Editor,
I am confused. Of the several budget measures announced, the one concerning Old Age pension increase states, it will progressively be increased to sixty thousand dollars. This sounds like each year an amount will be given as an increase over the five years until it reaches sixty thousand dollars. On the campaign trail a different understanding was bandied about.
There was no mention of the travel allowance in the recent announcement of the fifty thousand dollars, which was mentioned on the campaign trail on more than one occasion. What are we to make of this? One thing is said in the heat and hype of the moment of the campaign but when reality hits it quietly disappears, like it was never mentioned?
