Dear Editor,
In addition to bringing significant amendments to the Evidence, Company and Trust Acts, the Hon Attorney General should also aim to update the Constitution to allow for penalties for any breach of the Oath of office. Any oath-takers, including the President, could then be indicted for not bearing true faith and allegiance to the people.
For example; the people’s right to access information; to have their Leader of the Opposition and Region 10 Chairman selected, must not be managed to the people’s disadvantage. Similar situations must be prevented or dealt with to the people’s satisfaction. Guyanese must be assured that their democracy does not end in the ballot booth giving way to subservience.
