Dear Editor,
The world is currently hovering above a volcano waiting for an undesired, undeserved and undecided explosion. In the land of the brave, confirmed as the wealthiest country with a US$30 trillion economy, the United States of America with the most powerful army, is causing a tsunami of chaos, confusion and confrontation with their allied neighbours. This is the repercussion from the under-toning of President Trump’s verbal threats, warnings and advice.
In his attempt to re-establish America’s interest first, President Trump was quoted as confirming that, “We are in the business of having countries around us that are viable and successful and where the oil is allowed to freely come out.” America’s image is changing and Trump is pursuing a campaign to demonstrate America’s ‘might’ once again. “American dominance in the Western Hemisphere will never be questioned again,” Trump said.
In a mission dubbed, “Operation Resolute Resolve,” the US Special Delta Force seized, captured or kidnapped former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Celia Flores on January 3rd, swiftly flying them to the US in the wee hours of the morning. In a NYC court, they were indicted on charges of narco-terrorism, cocaine trafficking, and possession of machine guns and destructive devices against the US. His own fellow Americans on both sides of the House are critical of this action.
The USA, the land of opportunity where dreams come true is referred to as a “melting pot,” the land of the free. America, fondly looked upon as “the Big Brother” of the world to help maintain peace and stability, is a member of NATO and the UN. The Venezuelan invasion is considered a breach of International Law by many countries and has been condemned. The UN Secretary General viewed this incident as setting a dangerous precedent.
President Donald Trump is now sounding warnings to Mexico and Colombia to stop the cartels from shipping drugs to the US or he will do so himself. The oil and financial aid to Cuba have been cut off from Venezuela and he told them to ‘make a deal before it’s too late.’ He said that Cuba “is ready to fall.” North and Latin America are on Trump’s radar.
The Middle East will not be overlooked either. Over 500 lives have been lost in Iran since mass anti-government protests against Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, began. Trump said if Iran “kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go.”
Europe is on the verge of disenchantment with Trump regarding his high-handed attitude towards Denmark, a fellow member of NATO. Pituffik Space Base is a United States Space Force base located on the northwest coast of Greenland in the Kingdom of Denmark under a defence agreement between Denmark and the United States. Since taking office in 2025, Trump has threatened to invade or annex Greenland against the wishes of the Greenlandic government, which has repeatedly stated that Greenland’s future is its own decision and responsibility.
President Donald Trump says the US needs to “own” Greenland to prevent Russia and China from doing so. The US will do it “the easy way” or “the hard way.” He told the BBC, “Countries have to have ownership and you defend ownership, you don’t defend leases. And we’ll have to defend Greenland.”
China and the USA both have vested geopolitical interests in Taiwan. But President Trump said that it’s up to President Xi Jinping what China does in Taiwan but he’ll be unhappy (if China attacks Taiwan). With a veiled underlying tone, President Trump warned, “But I’ve expressed to him that I would be very unhappy if he did that, and I don’t think he’ll do that. I hope he doesn’t do that.”
Is it a matter of mind and morality to stop the man, Donald Trump, or, will the US President’s memory, mental or other medical moments manipulate or minimize his private, public or political mobility? In the past, the 79-year-old did endure anxious, cognitive queries when his speech slurred, and he mispronounced words and forgot names and events. But, does any of this cause worry or concern to the man who is now being perceived as moving the US Republican administration from democracy to dictatorship? Is Trump forgetting that charity begins at home?
Experiencing a harsh winter, America is weathering several storms. Trump is facing severe setbacks with ICE and his deportation orders. A clamp down with strict immigration policies, those illegal immigrants are being rounded up and deported. Many are facing the heat and even American citizens are caught in the crossfire and are being harassed and handcuffed, arrested and detained, beaten and brutalized, injured and even killed.
Last week, an US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis, in her car. Homeland Security deemed her a “domestic terrorist” in order to justify the killing. This incident has spurred massive protests organized from New York to Minnesota. In New York, some 15,000 nurses went on strike over staffing levels and workplace security.
The January 6, 2021 Capitol Hill attack is being actively “reframed” through ongoing political efforts, primarily by Donald Trump and his allies, who attempt to downplay the violence and shift blame for the day’s events. Downplaying the violence, the rioters are now being characterized as “peaceful protesters.” Trump has issued pardons to all individuals convicted in the crime, thereby, rewriting the history of the crime and undermining the judiciary process.
Is Trump playing out for real the Monopoly Game by monopolizing the global arena with his economic and military maneuverings, mobilizations and movements? Doesn’t Trump need to put his house in order first? He is desperate to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Is “America First” a nomenclature for “Trump First?”
