Dear Editor,
I ordered some materials some time ago from China. The suppliers have already placed the goods in their warehouse, awaiting final payment before loading the container.
Every time I enquire from the bank, they keep telling me that “Regrettably, due to high demand, we are unable to process your request at this time. We will, however, retain your request for processing soonest, once adequate funds become available. We regret any inconvenience caused and thank you for understanding”. This has been going on for a number of weeks now.
It is very frustrating as my construction is being held up while the goods languish in the warehouse in China.
The amount I need is relatively small, less than US$10,000.
I recall the Vice President saying that there will not be a problem in obtaining small amounts of foreign exchange. Has the situation changed?
I hope the Bank of Guyana and the Vice President can look into this situation.
