Dear Editor,
It is hard to believe; it is intriguing; and it should be investigated why the building of a fence at the recently reconstructed $62 million Charity Police Station could have cost 74 million dollars, (government engineer’s estimate). Even the 41 million dollars award for the fence seems quite excessive. And it is easy to conclude that the fence could have cost more than the whole upgraded Police station.
It is hoped that there is effective monitoring in place to ensure that President Ali’s promise of paying US Dollars equivalent for international standard work; is fulfilled. Access to the data used by the engineer to arrive at the estimate may give assurance that the engineer was diligent in his evaluation which prevents any cash and quality rip-offs.
