I would like to express my shock and anger regarding the callous and arbitrary reversal of salary increase previously paid to GuySuCo ‘Senior Staff’ in September, 2025. Over the past few weeks there were rumours circulating about the possible reversal of this increase for Senior Staff. When staff started to enquire, high-ranking officers remained tight-lipped and some even dismissing these rumours as false while they work in the background to make the necessary reversal.
Just to give a quick background on this matter: In September, 2025 the Corporation adjusted the bands for ALL categories of employees in order to facilitate the increase of the minimum wage to $100,000 and as a result, all employees enjoyed an increase due to the bands adjustments. Senior Staff received official letters from the HR Head showing the new adjusted salaries and benefits and had no reason to believe that this was temporary (no one expects salary increases to be temporary). Senior Staff were looking forward to the retroactive increase from January, 2025 – August, 2025 to be paid in December, 2025. Come December, 2025 and no retro was paid; the word was that this will be done ‘after Budget’ so this didn’t sound farfetched at all.
Lo and behold, when January, 2026 salaries were paid on February 2, 2026, Senior Staff salaries reverted to that of August, 2025. What is disappointing and unprofessional is that the Corporation has not informed Senior Staff as to why their salary increase which took effect from September 1, 2025 was reversed, in fact the Corporation has refused to issue employees their pay slips for January, 2026 which is the actual proof of what was done to their salaries.
Many Senior Staff would’ve already made certain financial decisions based on this new salary and to now come and snatch it away and say that they are not entitled to it is quite harsh and shows that the people behind this decision have no respect for Senior Staff. Just imagine the barefacedness and audacity to have issued official letters to employees on an increase in salary and paid that very increase only to reverse it four months later WITHOUT even an official word.
