Dear Editor,
The vast majority of the Guyanese people support multiparty democracy and free market economics. For so many educated people – Hamilton Green, Clement Rohee, Donald Ramotar, Prof Percy Hintzen – and so many more (the elite class) – they seem to be going against the grain.
Millions of people have fled Cuba; thousands are in Guyana; millions at home in Cuba are going hungry. The economy has already collapsed; soon the Cuban government itself will collapse. And a handful of elite folks in Guyana want to prop up the Cuban government.
Where is the commonsense of these folks? It makes a whole lot of sense for the Castro experiment to come to an end. Give the Cuban people a chance to rebuild the state on the principles of multiparty democracy and free market economics.
