Dear Editor,
I write with reference to a letter entitled `It would appear that Freedom House and Congress Place are working in tandem to frustrate WIN in Region 10 leadership impasse’ which was published in your newspaper on March 3rd, 2026.
The writer, Surujdai Juglall, praised the APNU+AFC government for enacting “a clear, multi-step process for the Regional Executive Officer (REO) and Clerk of Council to follow in the event of a tie” and laid blame for the impasse at the feet of the REO and the President. The letter then took a nasty turn with a claim that “by failing to compel the REO to follow the law and complete the election process, Freedom House and Congress Place are working in tandem” to “frustrate” WIN. The writer, who had previously analyzed roles, responsibilities and reporting lines in this matter, suddenly abandons a flair for analysis and attributes authority to Congress Place where it has none.
Editor, this leap from fact to fiction by Surujdai Juglall was no coincidence. It is aligned with recent communication from WIN’s leadership (see public releases from WIN’s press conference on February 27, 2028) and its supporters to suggest that the APNU has some relationship with the PPP. It is no secret that WIN benefitted from support in areas that were traditionally APNU strongholds. The push to advance a narrative of PPP/APNU cooperation is born out of a fear of those traditional APNU supporters returning home. I wish to forcefully denounce this narrative and make it absolutely clear that there is no cooperation between the APNU and the corrupt PPP administration.
Last, I will not make a leap but I must question whether or not there was a coordinated strategy by the PPP and WIN to use corrupt money to undermine the APNU. Whatever the answer, rest assured that the people will eventually find clarity amidst the distractions.
