Dear Editor,
I enjoy walking in the Botanical Gardens, especially in the late afternoons and I enjoy seeing and listening to several Macaws flying freely overhead. I also enjoy listening to the parrots, toucans, owls and many birds singing their songs of freedom. Recently I’ve been greatly impressed with the Botanical’s cleanliness. Kudos to the whole staff for their thankless efforts. We’re getting close to Easter Weekend, one of the busiest times for the Botanical Gardens, and one of the saddest for me.
I will never forget the day after Easter one year ago when I found two small birds entangled in kite strings. One was dead but the other survived after a little help escaping from his prison. I would like to call on the authorities to disallow kite flying in this sacred Protected Area.
