Dear Editor,
I write to express my deep concern regarding the recent reports of a workplace altercation involving Chinese expatriate employees at Bosai Minerals that is currently circulating on social media.
Incidents of this nature are unfortunate and have no place in any professional environment, particularly within an industry that depends heavily on discipline, cooperation, and mutual respect.
As a former employee who served the company for over ten years, I have seen firsthand the standards that are expected of workers. It is widely understood among local Guyanese employees that such behaviour can lead to immediate dismissal.
This is why many, including myself, feel strongly that the same rules must be applied fairly and consistently to all employees, regardless of nationality or status. This is not a call for harshness, but for fairness. Every worker deserves to be treated with dignity, and every employer has a responsibility to ensure that policies are enforced equally. When this is done, it strengthens trust, promotes unity, and reinforces the values that should guide our workplaces.
I respectfully urge that this matter be handled with transparency and equity, so that confidence can be maintained among all workers and the wider public.
