Dear Editor,
I googled “the power of forgiveness”.
Forgiveness does not erase the past or excuse the wrong doing.
It replaces ill will towards an offender with goodwill
It frees us from the emotional prison of resentment, lowers stress and blood pressure and improves our overall mental and physical well-being.
We need to move past the past and deal with present issues and make plans for the future.
I remember the past. I do not live in it.
No one is saying that it will be easy to forgive people.
Eusi Kwayana once proposed “no guilty race as a solution”.
I propose that we are all guilty of something so let us not cast stones and learn to forgive each other.
I propose that we harness the healing power of forgiveness.
Arguing of who harmed who most is not going to resolved our many social, political and economic problems. It will just trap us in a prison of resentment.
Forgiving each other is the key to unlock the prison of resentment. I suggest we use it.
