Dear Editor,
It is becoming increasingly clear that the political games played by our leaders must come to an end. The consequences extend far beyond political parties—they indirectly affect the lives of ordinary citizens who are looking for responsible leadership, stability, and progress.
Today, our greatest priority should not be political affiliation, religious belief, ethnicity, or race. Before all else, we are one human family. Guyana is experiencing remarkable growth, and there is every indication that this progress will continue. To sustain that momentum, we must unite across every divide. Political tension and racism have no place in a peaceful, democratic, and developing society
The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has also grown stronger, and as a member state, Guyana has a responsibility to lead by example. Our continued support for neighbouring countries and our collaborative partnerships with nations such as Barbados and Jamaica are encouraging steps toward a more united and resilient Caribbean.
At the same time, many citizens continue to struggle with the rising cost of living and the demands of everyday life. We should therefore take full advantage of available scholarships, skills training, financial literacy programmes, and business opportunities that can empower individuals and strengthen our economy. By investing in our people, supporting entrepreneurship, and expanding agriculture, Guyana can continue to build its reputation as the breadbasket of the Caribbean while contributing to the food security of the wider West Indian region.
The future of Guyana will not be determined by division, but by our willingness to work together with mutual respect, shared purpose, and a commitment to the national interest. Let us place country above politics and build a stronger, more united Guyana for future generations.
