Dear Editor,
I wish to add my sympathies and condolences to all of the bereaved at this tragedy.
There will be assessments and inquiries but I wish to cut to the chase. There is one fundamental problem in this country and that is a lack of competence and meritocracy. Many of our politicians may not find a job outside of politics but they offer themselves for elections and are elected. I can live with that. They have a mandate. However, Boards of Directors, Chief Executives of Corporations (GPL, GWI etc.) Members of Commissions, should be persons of ability and competence.
Under the PPP we literally have only friends and family. That is a fact, and most are incompetent and unqualified for the position.
Unless we change that, nothing will change in this country.
