Dear Editor,
We have already imprisoned ourselves with nuclear weapons in that now we have the technology we simply will not give it up. Some people are hawkishly advocating for a “bigger” stockpile of more powerful nuclear weapons as those without the technology are seeing that they also need the technology as a “deterrent”.
Same with Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. We are mindlessly creating a bigger problem in that robots can and will be used for social control and needless wars.
People seem to wanted machines to do their work for them and now they want machines to do their thinking for them.
As we look upon the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) (or, is it Artificial Idiot created by Superficial Idiots) no one seems to be overly concerned about the impact of AI and robotics on humanity. Economically, it may make sense to use robots and AI to do the work. As long as the trains runs on time and we can stuff our face with fast-food everyone will be happy. At least until people start using their commonsense.
The world needs to push back against AI, robotics and nuclear weapons while there is still a world.
