Dear Editor,
As a child growing up radio was a critical component in almost every home. Radio was the main source of receiving information. It made many aware of what was transpiring both locally and internationally and people were heavily dependent on that forum.
With radio many Guyanese became familiar with the announcers. They even had their favourites. As a child I listened to Dr. Rovin Deodat. He was eloquent in his speech. It seemed as though apart from being qualified he trained himself daily to be the best. It was like he never made a mistake in his diction. To me it came naturally. From the outside Dr. Deodat carried himself with pride. He commanded respect from how he presented himself.
I will truly miss his voice. He like many others were household names. He truly has left a legacy.
Editor, we need more Rovin Deodats and Phyllis Jacksons. May his legacy live on. Condolences to his immediate family. The stories of our heros should be written in our history.
