There is an old saying, “There are those who make things happen, There are those who watch things happen, and There are those who wondered what happened.” Which one are you? A good leader takes charge and makes things happen. Forty plus years is a long time for playing the “Blame Game”, or Finger Pointing.
What Guyana needs is a real leader with a backbone, one who is not afraid of risk, and one who puts the people in lieu of profits first.
It’s obvious an aging infrastructure can’t be fixed nor replaced. It’s time to think outside the box. Has Guyana possibly thought of issuing generators to its people. What is the population of Georgetown Guyana, less than half a million people. You need not issue generators to every man, woman and child. So cut this number by 3 and you’re looking at a number much smaller. What would it cost to repair/replace the current grid (billions I’m sure). Now compare this cost to issuing generators to every family in Guyana. Even at a thousand dollars per generator, times three hundred thousand people, that’s three hundred million dollars, a far less cry compared to billions. Other options include:
With Guyana experiencing mostly short-term blackouts, solar panels, battery banks, and small generators are Guyana’s best option. Bottom line is which type of person are you, do you make things happen, watch things happen or wondered what happened? The choice is yours.
