In June 2023, President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced that National Insurance Scheme (NIS) pension will be paid on the 1st day of each month similar to that of the Senior Citizen Pension date. Every pensioner welcomed the announcement.
To avoid the overcrowding and long waiting (2 hours) at Post Offices etc. I requested NIS to remit my monthly pension to my Bank account (details provided) from December 2025. On the 2nd December 2025 I checked with my Bank and was told that no remittance from NIS was made. I immediately contacted NIS and was told that remittances to Banks are made on the 24th-25th of each month. This octogenarian, instead of waiting 2 hours now has to wait 24 days. Instead of receiving 2 pensions in 30 days i.e.1st November to 1st December, now it’s 55 days, 1st November to 24th December.
I am appealing to the Management of NIS to be proactive and adjust its bank remittance dates accordingly.
The 1st of the month is not the 24th or 25th. It is our money you must comply. Your duty is to remit our pension to be payable on the specified date.

To avoid the overcrowding and long waiting (2 hours) at Post Offices etc. I requested N.I.S. to remit my monthly pension to my Bank account. (details provided) from December 2025. On the 2nd Dec 2025 I checked with my bank and was told that no remittance from N I S was made.
I immediately contacted N.I.S. and was told that remittances to Banks are made on the 24th-25th of each month. This octogenarian instead of waiting 2hrs now has to wait 24 days.
